Resumo

The AA. reports a case of umbilical urinary fistule owing to the persistent uracus canal, and pyonephrosis of the right kidney in a zebú calf two months old. The uracus canal showed a cistic dilatation before the opening in the bladder. Both uracus canal and bladder evidenced severe purulent inflamation. The right ureter and renal pelvis had the same inflamation and were very dilated. The right kidney pratically turned into a conglomerate of purulent sacks. Left kidney and urinary passages showed a start of hydropyonephrosis. The calf died after a month of illness. Besides the above lesions, the AA. found an umbilical endarteritis The isolated germs were a Streptococcus and Escherichia coli. Alter summarising the discussions about the etiology and pathogeny of cattle pyelonephritis, the AA. concluded that in this case the intection was predominantly ascendent, by the way of the urinary fistule and ura canal. How the E. coli and the umbilical endarteritis make it possible for an associated hematogenous infection too.
