Resumo

A short summary of the author's work in biological control is given, including recapitulation of the following successful cases: control of the cottony cushion sacle by the ladybird beetles, Cryptolaemus montroryeri, Vedalia sp., and Rodalia sp., of the wooly aphis by Aphelinus mali; of the eucalyptus beetle by Tetrastichus sp., of the prickly pear by Cactoblastis cactorum; and of the sugar cane moth borer by Trichogramma minurum. Several attempts resulting in partial success of failure are also describred. The author, sent to Brasil from Barbados to collect and remit fly puparia of Metagonystylum minense, a larval parasite of the sugar cane borer, cutlines methods of collecting, transporting, and rearing this insect for future propagation in Barbados.
