On this paper the author deals for the first time in Bra- zil with the occurrence of colds in domestic animals in No- vember, 1943. He refers also to 3 cases that the has ob- served before in chickens.
He studies the etiology of colds, showing particularly the cooperation of predisposing and auxiliary causes with fall of the surrounding environmental temperature. About this subject he refers especially to what he observed in the outbreak which occured in Minas (Brazil). He comments on the secondary role of cold in many diseases.
He discusses the pathogeny, symptomatology, post- mortem lesions, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and prophy- laxis of colds.
