Processo B. H. de autofecundação do milho

Resumo

Using recommended maise selfing processes the author found many troubles due to heavy rains and incertainty in ‘avoiding contamination by foreign pollen. He tried with success, at the Belo Horizonte Experiment Station, a process he calls «B.H.», consisting in bending the tassel over the spike and covering them both under just one bag of manilla paper. The process is rather similar to that deseribed by Nemesio Mendiola and involves some dificulties which the A. points out easy ways to overcome. The best type and dimensions of cover bags are mentioned. Other considerations regarding selfing practise under the State of Minas climatic conditions are refered to. Possibilities of improving the process are foreseen.
