The author received from Zona da Mata, Minas Gerais State, in the period of January 1957 to February 1958, 158 specimens of scorpions of wich only 7 were not T. trivittatus. There were observed 12 cases of occorrence of this arachnid in houses, 3 on living trees, 1 in the crib of a farm, 1 in a pile of bricks, 1 on a bamboo fence and the others were found in fallen plants on the ground and on banks.
Three reasons are proposed to explain the presence of this arachnid in houses of Vigosa County: the use of wood as fuel, large oscillation of temperature from day to night and the combined effect of both factors. The presence of T. trivittatus on tree trunks is considered more a momentary defense measure than a natural habit of the animal.
