Experimento de espaçamento de semeadura do feijão (Phaseolus vulgaris L)

The effect of row spacing and seed distribution on the yield of the erect field bean variery Rico-23 was analyzed in an experiment involving 5 separatetrials conducted at Vigosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil on a heavy clay soil ("massapê") of variable fertility, during the wet and dry seasens. Twelve treatments were used involving all combinations of 4 row intervals (30, 40, 50, and 60 cm) and 3 distributions (1 seed every 10 cm, 2 seeds every 20 cm, and 3 seeds every 30 cm).
The following conclusions were drawn from the experiment: Yields increased as the interval between rows decreased. Yields increased as the distribution changed from 3 seeds every 30 cm to 1 seed every 10 cm, The row interval and seed distribution treatments did no affect the final stand. (See tables 1 and 3).
This study althoughpreliminary suggests further trials using varieties with different growth habits and also the effect of higher plant densities within rows in combination with the practical row intervals of 40 and 50 cm.
