Efeitos da densidade de plantio sobre a cultura do feijoeiro

Resumo

In Vigosa, State of Minas Gerais, eight spacings of field bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) were compared. The combinations of spacing were made up of two different row spacings (40 and 50 cm.), with four different intervals between seeds in the row (2.5, 5, 7.5, and 10cm). The variety 'Rico-23' was used and the experiment was conducted five times: three in the nwetn period and two in the dry period.

The following conclusions can be drawn from the results obtained in the experiment:

1) The greatest decrease in final stand, measured in percentage, was observed with the spacing of 2,5 cm. between seeds in the row.

2) The final stand varied greatly from one year to another,usually being between 80 and 90%.

3) The average seed size decreased only when the spacing between seeds was 2.5 cm.

4) The average weightof seed varied from one year to another, with the average generally between 17 and 18 grams per 100 seeds.

5) The maximum production was obtained with the spacing of 5 cm. between seeds in the row. When considering the combination of row spacing and spacing between seeds, the highest production was obtained using the spacing of 40 x 5 cm.

6) With respect to the spacing of 40 x 10 cm., which has been recommended for the State of Minas Gerais, an increase of 11% was obtained in this experiment when the spacing of 40 x 5 cm. was used. However, it must be recognized that the spacing of 40 x 5 cm, requires twice as much seed and also increases the cost of planting.
