Hereditariedade da cor das vagens de Phaseolus vulgaris L - II

Resumo

In the present study, seven varieties of common beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) were used: ''Rico 23'' and ''Chimbolo 233'' both with dark pink pods and violet flowers; ''Preto 146'', with dark purple pods and violet flowers; ''Pardo 90'', with red pods and pink flowers; ''Manteigio Preto 20'' and ''Baetio Manteiga-41'', both with striped pods and violet flowers; ''Manteigao Fosco 11'', with yellow pods and white flowers. The pod colors were observed immediately before they began to ripen. Thus, the variety ''Manteigao Fosco 1I'' is not considered a wax bean since its pods are green and only change to yellow at maturity. 

From crosses between these varieties, the pod and flower color was studied in F 1, F2 and sometimes in F3 generation. On the basis of this study and the work of LAM-SANCHEZ and VIEIRA (5), it was found that three genes, schematically designated as A»a2>a, which behave as alleles, govern the pod color, The gene V for violet flower is necessary for the manifestation of a® (stripcd pod)and a (dark pinkpod), while its alleles v13€ (pink flower) and v (white flowér) produce yellow pod with ia and a The genotype V A produces plants with dark purple pods, while the genotypes v!2€ A and v A produce plants with red pods.
