Efeitos da adubação orgânica sobre a cultura do feijão (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)

Two experiments were carried out at Vicosa, Minas Gerais, in order to study the effects of farm manures on bean culture (Phaseolus vulgaris L. cv. ‘Rico 23'). The experiments were conducted in the rainy and dry seasons. The treatments included cattle manure (30 t/ha), hen manure (8 t/ha), and check plots (without farm manures), each treatment with and without chemical fertilization. The manures were uniformly spread and incorporated into the soil.
Hen manure was still fresh when applied and for that reason it reduced the stand slightly. After the harvest, the soil was analysed. It was found that both manures, but principally the hen manure, increased the soil P content, but not the N, K, Ca, Mg and organic matter content. The effect on yield was small, probably because of the good fertility of the soil utilized. No effect was found on harvest index. The effect on soil temperature was insignificant. In the dry season, cattle manure Kept the soil moisture at a higher level.
