Resistência à mancha angular (Isariopsis griseola Sacc.) no feijoeiro (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)

Angular leaf spot (Isariopsis griseola Sacc.) is an important disease of beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) in Minas Gerais. In order to verify the resistance of 44 bean varieties to this pathogen, a greenhouse screening was carried out, using a mixture of local isolates of the fungus. Two varieties were fonnd to be resistant, and only one —Caraota 260’ — was highly resistant.
To study the inheritance of the resistance found in ‘Caraota 260', this variety was crossed with ‘Venezuela 350', a very susceptible one. Tests of resistance were made in the greenhouse, using the most pathogenic local isolate. It was found that the resistance was controlled by a single recessive gene.
