Fatores macro e micrometeorológicos na ocorrência de geadas - estudo de um caso

Heavy frosts occurred in Brazil during the nights of May 30, 31 and June 1, 1979. These phenomena, adverse to agricultural activities, were of greatest severity principally in the southern states, but extended to tropical latitudes of about 18° South. The state of São Paulo and a part of Minas Gerais were also included. Great economic and social damage occurred, with international consequences. Using satellite infrared photographs, synoptic maps and local observations, a diagnostic study of these phenomena was carried out at Presidente Prudente, São Paulo. The macro and micrometeorological variables involved were considered separately, and jointly, in order to determinate the influences per se and their interactions.
