‘Uberaba’, or “UFV-10', is a high yielding soybean cultivar released by the Federal University of Vigosa for the farmers of Central Brazil. It originated from the cross ‘Santa Rosa’ X ‘UFV-1' and was tested as VX28-S-28 and as UFV 80-91. It was developed by the single pod descent method. ‘Uberaba’ has purple flowers, brown pods and pubescence, yellow seedcoat and cotyledons, light brown hilum, and determinate growth habit. It is a late maturing variety and resistant to lodging and pod shattering. It is also resistant to bacterial pustule, wildfire, frogeye, and Meloidogyne javanica. Several tests have shown that ‘Uberaba® has a very good productivity and that its plants are sustable for mechanical harvest over a wide range of environmental conditions. The research indicated that it is more adapted to soils of medium to high fertility, and the region between 17° and 21° South Latitudes.
