In a work breeding with a wild leguminous (Pchyrrhizus). two species — bulbosus and angulatus — have been submitted to close inbreeding since 1951. Simultaneously to the inbreedings, reciprocal crosses were made between the two so called species. Segregation on the original species dit enforce the necessit for further inbreedings and showed no values for the crosses so far performed as the original material was impure. These crosses, however, were grown for observation and those where the female plants were angulatus (black seed, blue flower) dit blossom but did't sed seed.
Microscopical analysis on polens showed a high percentage of sterility ranging from 100% to 47%, with a general media of 83,93%,. Further studies are under way to investigate the origin of such sterility, as well as the validity of the two species.
