Desenvolvimento anatômico da raiz adventícia em estaca de figueira (Ficus carica L.)

Resumo

The formation of the rootprimordium offig tree(Ficus carica L. ) cuttings is preceded by the appearence of a callus. The callus is constituted of parenchymatous cells, resulting from the transformation ofthe permanent tissues of the cutting (phloem-pericycle-cortex). During the formation phase of the callus it is observed that some of the free sclerinchymatous cells which are a part ofthe permanent tissues suffer the lysis phenomenon.

During the initial period of development, the wound root utilizes the callus parenchyma. The callus parenchyma that is not utilized orassimilated inthis development, becomes apart of the cutting tissues, adjacent to the wound root.

The root primordium has its origin inthe vicinity of the phloem-pericycle-cortex.

It was observed thatin this region the appearance of the callus parenchyma had its origin by way of the lysis of the mentioned pre-existent tissues until a certain volume of this callus is attained above. The root starts its formation in the interior of the callus, adjacent to the xylem. The initial cells grow and multiply in a «radial« manner; one part being a centripetal portion that reaches the xylem and, the other being a centrifugal one whose extremity serves as the starting point for root caps.

The callus tissue is partially consumed during the root formation and the remaining portion becomes integrated into the cortical tissues.

No callus formation was observed in normal stem. The parenchymatous cells of the lenticels become a kind of protuberance, resembling roots, but are not transformed into roots.

The adventitious root formation in fig cuttings does not follow a topographic pattern nor a cronological one.
