Efeitos da profundidade de plantio sobre o "feijão da seca"

Resumo

Two varieties of dry beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), "Rico 23' (small seeded) and "Manteigdo Fosco 11'' (large seeded), were planted in furrows 5 cm, 10 cm, 15 cm, and 20 cm deep. The plantings were made in the dry season.

It was concluded that, when beans are planted in March, furrows only 10 cm deep may accelerate germination, improve the stand, and increase the yield when compared with the usual planting depth of 5 cm. However, if shortage of rain is acute, this yield increase is economically insignificant.
