A study of the inheritance of the speed of germination in the brachytic-2 maize variety ‘Piranão’ was conducted at the Universidade Federal de Viçosa, Viçosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil, and the estimated genetic gains in selection for this character Were compared with the realized gains.
