'UFV-2', variedade de soja para o Brasil Central

‘UFV-2'is anew, high yielding, lodging resistant soybean variety for central Brasil. It originated as a single plant selection from the cross ‘Hardee' (sister line of Mineira) x TAC-2' (La 41-1219 x Yelnando) made at the Federal University of Viçosa. It has white flowers, gray pubescence, yellow seed. buffhilum. and determinate growth (stem termination). It is 7-8 cm taller than ‘UFV-1' and Santa Rosa. but 8-10 days earlier than ‘UFV-1'and 2-3 days later than Santa Rosa. 'UFV-2 is resistant to bacterial pustule and wildfire. It is similar to 'UFV-1' in seed size and oil and protein content. Yield of “UFV-2' averaged slightly lower than ‘UFV-1' but 10% higher than ‘Santa Rosa’ and ‘IAC-2’ in 31 tests in Minas Gerais 1973 to 1976.
