Controle químico de ervas daninhas na cultura da cebola (Allium cepa L.)

A study of the effects of five herbicides on plots of onion transplants was conducted in experimental fields at Careacu in the Sapucai Valley, Minas Gerais. Brazil. Products tested were Linuron, Oryzalin, Prometryne, Fluorodifen and oxa- diazon and Fluorodifen and Prometryne in combination. The effectiveness of the herbicides in control of broad and narrowleaf weeds and their effects on the onions themselves were checked using weedel and unweeded control plots.
All the herbicides gave satisfactory weed control, but only Fluorodifen and Oxadiazon failed to damage the onions. No statistical difference was observed between Oxadiazon treatment and the weeded control. Prometryne caused severe injury to the onions just after application, causing drastic reduction in the stand, although the surving onion plants had normal growth, as expressed by the average bulb weight.
