Resumo

Maize seeds of the variety ‘Opaco-2 Colombiano’ were treated with 0, 0.0625, 0.125, 0.25, 0.5 and 1% ethyl-methanesulfonate (EMS) solution. The objectives were: (a) to evaluate the effects of EMS on plants and seeds of opague-2 maize; (b) to search for mutations that might change the endosperm phenotype from opaque to vitreous; and, (c) to determine the most efficient concentration of EMS for mutation induction in opaque-2 maize.
