Seeds of the maize inbred ‘183 opaque-2’ were treated with 0 (control), 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 Krads of gamma rays with the following objectives: (a) to evaluate the effects of different doses of seed irradiation on plants and seeds of opaque-2 maize; and, (b) to attempt to induce mutations which modify the opaque endosperm phenotype to vitreous, translucent.
