Abstract

An estimate was made of the primary production of a Bachiaria decumbens pasture cv. Australiana located in CPAC, EMPRABA-DF, as well as its correlations with environmental factors. The study was carried out between October 1980 and April 1981, a period coinciding with the rainy season in the Federal District and consequently with vegatation growth. Production was estimated by using differences in the aboveground boimass, which was sampled at fifteen-day intervals. The aboveground primary production estimate for the rainy period was 395 ± 93 gm-2. The fifteen-day production figures were most highly correlated with precipitation. The efficiency of the conversion of solar energy into organic matter was 0.40 ± 0.09%.
