In May, 1977, gray leaf spot, caused by the fungus Cercospora vanderysti P. Henn., and floury leaf spot, caused by the fungus Ramularia phaseoli (Drummond) Deighton, were observed on field beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) at altitudes of 800-1000 m in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. This is the first record of their occurrence in that region.
