At the Hydraulics Laboratory of the Federal University of Viçosa, Viçosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil, a study was conducted to determine the hydraulic characteristics of lateral irrigation lines for a drip irrigation system using the micro-drip IRTEC.
Equations to calculate head loss in polyethylene tubes were derived. The friction coefficients of Hazen-Williams (C) and of Darcy-Weisbach (f) were determined, as were the values of Christiansen’s coefficient (F) and the maximum number of drips that can be used per line.
