Agricultural production in the States of Minas Gerais and Goiás, Brazil, shows a high degree of variability, in terms of production, prices and income. That makes more difficult the planning and management of the rural enterprise. The basic assumption of this study is that the farmer is averse to risk.
The main purposes of this study were: (a) to correlate le and degrees of va- riability of real gross income of selected agricultural activities in the states of Minas Gerais and Goiás; (b) to obtain combinations of activities minimizing inco- me variability; (c) to determine the relationship between degree of diversification, stability and level of real gross income.
