Introdução de novas variedades da batatinha (S. tuberosum L.) da Holanda para Minas Gerais

Resumo

Tn this paper, the author gives the results of a project of introduction of new potato varieties from Holand to Minas Gerais State-Brasil.

The data presented are concerning 14 experiments planted at 5 different localities, with 22 varieties. The Dutch variety Eigenheimer was used as tester because it is the most widely imported variety for planting.

There were made 6 main observations, with the follo- wing results:

a — Growth — The varieties were classified into three groups: Largest growth Mulder R72, Lokhorst 3901, Alpha, Prumeel P299, Eigenheimer, Mulder R44, Voran, Medium, growth—Lomman, Meerlander, Bevelander, Bintje, Matador, Sneeuw, Wilpo, Succes, Eersteling; Smallest growth—Record. ZPC 40.405, Prumell P202, Saskia, Dorst U243, Doré.

b — Period of growth — The varieties were classified into three groups: Late varieties — Alpha, Mulder R72, Pru- mell P299, Prumell P202 Voran; Medium late varieties—Be- velander, Dorst U243, Eigenheimer, Lokhorst 3901, Lomman, Matador, Meerlander, Mulder R44, Record; Saskia, Sneeuw, Succes, ZPC 40.405, Wilpo; Early varieties — Bintje, Doré, Eersteling. 

c — Diseases — Field observations did not lead to any conclusions as to diseases resistance of the different varieties.

d — Stand — The varieties reaching a stand above 90 per cent are the following: Wilpo, Voran, Mulder R72, Eigenheimer, Bevelander e Record.

e -- Yield — The highest yielding varieties are as follows: Voran 9,699 kg/ha; Lomman 8,860 kg/ha; Eigenheimer 7936 kg/ha; Sneeuw 6,534 kg/ha; Prumell P299 6,319 kg/ha.

f — Grading — The tuber of all the varieties were classified into three grades; the following are the best ones: Lomman, Mulder R44, Alpha, Mulder R72, Lokhorst 3901.

By the results given here it shows that Lomman was the best variety for the different localities.
