In order to determine the practicability of summer grafting of grapevines, the best grafting method and the best root-top combination, trials were carried out at the Federal University of Viçosa, Viçosa Minas Gerais, Brazil. The variety ‘Niagara Rosada' was used as the top with the followine varieties as root stocks: “IAC 572', ‘IAC 313, “Schwarzmann', ‘IAC 571-6', TAC 766', “Traviu', ‘Telek’ and ‘RR 101 —14’. Grafting methods tested were: a) budding by an inverted T, b) bud plate inserted in place of an identical piece of bark and c) cleft with stock and scion of the same diameter.
