The vegetative shoot apex of Phaseolus vulgaris L. cv. Bush Blue Lake 290 was studied to determine its regions and dimensions during a plastocron. It has a convex dome shape, with a two-layer tunica and a corpus divided in three regions: a central region of large cells; a peripheral region of smaller more deeply staining cells; and a pith meristem below the central region.
