Resumo

Broiler from a cross of Cornish Cocks and New Hampshire hens were grown until 15 weeks of age in experimental batteries.

Feed consumption, weight gain and feed conversionwere determined from the fourth week. After this time the cost of the broilers at each ageand their market price were calculated to determine the profit.

These data were determined when the broilers were 4, 6, 8 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 weeks old.

The feed conversion decreased with increase in age. The biggest difference between cost of production and sale price indicated there was more profit at 12 weeks of age.

However when the number of possible groups to be grown in the same place in one year was considered it was concluied that between 10 and 11 weeks was really the most profitable market age.

It ins't good to keep broilers on the poultry farm after 13 weeks of age. After this agethe profit decreases very much. In the same way it ins't good to sell very young broilers. The ale of broilers, 6 weeks old or less, wans't profitable.

Evidently, using chicks with better feed conversias the best age to market should be antecipated.
