Resumo

The objective ofthis study was to identify the leadership of a municipio in Minas Gerais, Brazil and to identify those problems that his leadership considered to be most important.

Two distinct types of leaders were identified - General and Specific. For the most part, different individuals were identified for each group.

It was found that a small group of five people were most frequently cited as being general leaders in the community, but that these could be separated into two distinctly different subgroups. 

The specific leaders in all cases were associated with particular types of problems, but when asked to identify with whom they discussed community problems and whom they found to be helpful in the resolution of these problems, they cited most frequently the two major figures in each of the two general leader subgroups.
