Influência de diferentes sistemas de corte sobre o capim-gordura (Melinis minutiflora Beauv.)

In order to obtain basic information on the effects of cutting height, date of initial cutting, and cutting interval on the characteristics of Melinis minutiflora Beauv. this study was conducted in pots in a greenhouse at the Rural University of Minas Gerais, Viçosa, Brazil. The experiment design was a 3 x 2 x 3 factorial in randomized blocks with six replications. Three heights of cutting (2, 12, and 22 cm), two cutting intervals (4 and 8 weeks) and three dates of initial cutting (Oct, 28, Nov. 25,and Dec. 23, 1965) were studied.
Dry matter was determined and general observations made after each autting during 11 months beginning six and one-half months after seeding.
