One hundred Gir x Holstein crossbred steers were used in a study to evaluate the effects on weight gain of molasses in natural vs. dehydrated form in dry lot feeding. The effects of RALGRO implantation and castration were studied as well, and the experiment was of completely randomized design.
Significantly higher (P < 0.05) daily weight gains were observed for animals receiving molasses in natura (0.62 kg), when compared with those receiving dehydrated molasses (0.49 kg). RALGRO and castration did not affect the daily weight gains (P > 0.05).
