Concentração de inóculo sobre o grau de suscetibilidade do feijoeiro a raças de Colletotrichum lindemuthianum

Greenhouse tests were carried out on five bean varieties ('Michelite', 'Dark Red Kidney', 'Perry Marrow', 'Emerson 847', and 'Rico 23') to determine the correlation of host age and inoculum concentration with susceptibility to three races of C. lindemuthianum.
The plants were inoculated 5, 15, 25 and 35 days after germination with six different inoculum suspensions in the following concentratjons: 2 x 107, 4 x 106, 8 x 105, 16 x 104, 32 x 103 and 64 x 10º conidia/ml. After inoculation the plants were maintained for seven days at 18-220C and 95% R.H.
The reactions of 5 and 15 day-plants were identical for all varieties in all inoculum concentrations for each race employed Among the six inoculum concentrations, 4 x 106 and 8 x 10° conidia/ml proved best for race identification of C. lindemuthianum.
The 35 day-plants of all varieties did not prove extremely susceptible (S) even when inoculated with 2 x 10/ conidial/ml. The variety 'Rico 23' proved susceptible in all tests, except when 35 day-old plants were inoculated with the lowest ino- culum concentration.
