This paper is intended to provide conditions for evaluation of the present system of interregional distribution of rice. The objectives of this study are to determine: a) the optimal set of differential prices among states; b) the equilibrium prices, state consumption levels, and state excesses or deficits; c) the most appropriate market for the rice produced in different states; d) the geographical advantages of the major producer states in terms rice marketing.
