Influência do período pós-colheita das hastes de critrus, sobre a qualidade das borbulhas para a enxertia

This study was made to test the influence of the length of the storage period of the Citrus budwood on the quality of buds for grafting. This work was conducted at the Instituto de Pesquisa e Experimentação Agropecuárias do Centro-Oeste, in Sete Lagoas, Minas Gerais State.
Budwoods of 'Natal' orange (Citrus sinensis, Osb.) were harvested at intervals of 4 days (0, 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20 days), packed in polyethylene bags and maintained at an average environmental temperature of about 19,9°C. Each budwood carried 5 buds. All of buds were grafted on rootstocks of Rangpur lime Citrus limonia, Osb.), on the 20th day.
The following percentagens ofbuds live were observed: 98,5% on the date ofharvest of the budwoods; 97,0% after 4 days; 95, 0% after 8 days; 92,0% after 12 days; 81,0% after 16 days; and 40, 0% after 20 days of harvest of the budwoods.
The loss of bud viability was the same for all 5 bud locations along the stem.
It was noted that the loss of bud viability increased simultaneously with progressive change in budwood color from the natural green to an intense brown.
The original locations of the buds on the stem and the length of the storage period of the budwoods did not affect the growth of the scions.
The moisture content of the buds was the same along the stem, but a slight fluctuation was noted during storage. However, it seems that the viability of the buds was not affected by this small change in moisture content.
