Seven breeding lines and two cultivars of okra were seeded in pots, in the greenhouse, and submitted to four photoperiods of 8, 10, 12 and 14 hours and to natural day length which was about 13 hours. Six of the breeding lines and the cultivar Chifre-de-Veado reacted as short day plants as far as flowering is concerned. The critical day length varied from 10 to 14 hours in the conditions of this experiment. One breeding line did not show any definite tendency. The cultivar 'Clempson Spineless' tended to be day neutral. A clear tendency of flower bud abssision in greater day lengths was shown.
